YANA
Rural Mental Health Support
As an employer, Ernest Doe is actively engaged in working to improve support for and awareness of mental heath in the workplace. We have a Wellbeing Focus Group who meet quarterly and have assigned trained personnel across the business who are able to offer first line support to colleagues who may be struggling and need some emotional support or guidance.
As part of our focus on wellbeing, we are pleased to endorse YANA (You Are Not Alone). They provide a telephone based support to people in farming and other rural businesses for mental health issues, stress and depression.
Rural mental health
You are not alone
Farming or working in the countryside is usually a good way of life but it is a demanding and stressful occupation. So, it’s not surprising that many people involved with agriculture can feel isolated, depressed or unable to cope as well as normal.
1 in 4 people in the UK will experience poor mental health so it is important to know that you, or the person you are concerned about, are not alone.
Depression is an illness not a weakness
Those who work in farming and other rural businesses are often reluctant to seek support for depression, stress or anxiety. However, talking about your problems and seeking appropriate help can make it easier to cope and improve your quality of life.
If you are involved with farming or rural business in any way and are feeling low or if you are worried about a member of your family, a colleague or a friend, YANA can help. Call their helpline 0300 323 0400 for confidential support or email helpline@yanahelp.org.
